What does $50 a month cover?
Sponsorship goes to the child's essential needs — regular meals, school fees and supplies, clothing and access to healthcare — delivered by HARO's team in Somalia. HARO spends 97% of every dollar on programs (2025 IRS Form 990).
Can I change or cancel my sponsorship?
Yes. Sign in to the sponsor portal with your email and you can raise or lower your amount, update your card or cancel. A cancelled sponsorship runs to the end of the paid month.
Will I hear how my child is doing?
Your portal keeps your child's profile and HARO shares updates from the field. Because these are real children, we publish first names only and never share exact addresses.
What happens if a payment fails?
We email you up to three reminders over three weeks with a link to update your card. If we still can't collect the gift, the sponsorship ends and the child is introduced to a new sponsor — you can always come back.
Is my sponsorship tax-deductible?
Humanitarian African Relief Organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 83-0484715); sponsorships are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Stripe emails you a receipt for every payment.
